INTRO

As you start to improve the cultural formations.  Of having great bacteria…  in your gut..is like having..  Really great weather in your gut..  

Basically.. When your body fat % is high..  Your… proinflammatory cytokines levels  are very high and now your body.. Is in a constant state of inflammation.  

Your body wants warm foods..  It wants warm water not cold water.. It wants warm…

Drinking lots of water, and that all ensures but I think the most important thing is just making sure, that ... that the gut has all of that boost in microbiomes ..

 

Yeah absolutely..

 

So, eating great foods, specially fiber which is in the Colon cleanse as well like if you're doing a Colon Cleanse supplement, you have prebiotic fibers as well but the interesting thing is that it's also, ensuring that there is an absolute clearing there

 

Yeah absolutely and you know, since you mentioned the Gut microbiome, a good probiotic I can't even stress the importance of. Prevotella! That's right! You know.. with these names of bacterias, I'm having a real challenge.... but the interesting thing about .. you know Prevotella is that it's also fiber and carb eating, like it helps digest the fibers and it helps digest the carbs.  Isn't that interesting?

 

Wow, yeah. That's actually really really amazing, and Fibers are not just really important for that but you know, recycling of hormones, excess hormones, there's  excess estrogen that's being produced for women, there's you know excess progesterone, you know, even excess thyroid, and fiber really helps to you know drive out cortisol, drive all of those excess hormones out, so that you know your endocrine function is really optimized.

Yes, absolutely. absolutely and basically your body fat % being at an optimal weight, is even lent to your immune system, did you know that?

 

Oh, actually, I think because we've been... we've talked about immunity. I did understand a bit, but touch upon that, a bit more.

 

Yeah, so I mean what's amazing is that these fat cells adipocytes, they actually increase the synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines, now,  proinflammatory cytokines are basically these, these cells in the immune system that now trigger inflammation, and now basically when your body fat % is high, your  proinflammatory cytokine levels are very high, and now your body is in a constant state of inflammation, thats where chronic inflammation begins basically, you know, it's like having enemy agents, on your own enemy territory, right? and basically what happens is you know there was this amazing case in Spain actually, a few years ago there was this you know deadly virus strain called, H1N1, and basically what doctors and scientists began to realize was that they were getting a very disproportiate number of patients coming in, who were either overweight or obese, so you know, thats when they began to realize, okay, whats going on here, how come, higher body fat % are led to lower immunity?

 

Could it be that certain types of bacteria, uhm you know, feed off ... you know... other types of bacteria that are nexus?

 

Yeah, absolutely, that's one thing, cause your gut, there's a huge connection between your inflammation levels and the health of your Gut. But another thing is, basically, because of this inflammation, now your body is... the sympathetic nervous system is now constantly switched ON, so your body is in a perceived state of stress at all times, so it doesn't even, have you know, autonomic defenses against these bacteria, against these viruses..

 

There's a lot of fight or flight,right?

 

Yeah, absolutely, so that's why it's always like, the more you can, you know, turn on,  that parasympathetic nervous system the more your body is going to experience, you know, better immunity, better health overall and lower levels of inflammation.

 

And I guess that's where meditation , breathing, along with a balanced diet, like it can really help a lot.

 

Absolutely, yeah. I mean, meditation instantly as you were mentioning in the last episode, you know, increases Glutathione levels, it increases BDNF.....

 

And What is BDNF? You might wanna... 

 

Yeah, Brain-derived neurotrophic factor. Ass I was talking about earlier, and human growth hormone. And  basically by, you know, estimulating, Alpha & Theta Brain Waves, now you're in a state of basically like, turning on your autonomic nervous system.

 

Yeah, wow...

 

Yeah

 

And you know, the interesting thing is that, you know…. as you start to…. you know, improve... the cultural formation of having great bacteria in your gut is like having really great weather in your Gut. you know, there's a difference, and  the funny thing is that, you know, trying not to get stressed out about... you know... having bad health, that's not gonna help you. Wow, I'm surprised they managed to make rats do that, 

 

Yeah! Me too I was so surprised, and... (laughs) ...like  that's even funnier. So, they noticed, you know, lower triglyceride levels in these rats,  you know, better, better insulin metabolism, better blood sugar levels, what's interesting is that they actually measured the waist circumference of these rats, and the waist circumference like significantly decreased 

 

I'm sure the rats, were fairly cooperative...

 

Yeah..... (Laughs)

 

But yes, it's kind of hilarious, how  like scientists, really .. you  know God bless the scientists cause they go down these rabbit holes, and you find yourself barely holding up, you know a pair of legs of a rat, on your weekend, you know in a lab, its...

 

Yeah, absolutely. And you know, the thing is that, rats are mammals, just like human beings, so it makes it very easy for us to look at the physiological part, not... not like the psychological obviously because,  you know, what humans beings, we have the prefrontal cortex and our brain structures are very different from rats. However when you are looking at physiological functions, you know, one will argue, yeah it's all fairly reasonable comparison. But yeah, so what I really wanted to talk about are some other ways of kick starting Ketosis, which are you know... basically the reason why I feel the need to mention this, is because no one talks about, the difference between how, men respond to Ketogenic Diets vs how women respond to Ketogenic diets, and research actually shows that basically ketogenic diets for women, women respond much more adversely to, because basically our hormones are much more complex than men, you know there is basically........  low food diets,  really put our bodies under stress which increases cortisol and we all know what happens when  cortisol spikes. Everything goes haywire, so basically what happens is you know, your estrogen levels become much higher to compensate for these stress state that your body is in now, and compensate for the excess cortisol levels, your estrogen levels increase, and estrogen and thyroid share an inverse relationship, so basically when estrogen levels increase, thyroid levels decrease, which causes hypothyroidism, and our estrogen is now creating all these like, imbalances in insulin, and blood sugar levels and it's going you know, oh! Eat sugar, eat cakes, or you know.. yes, yes, lets eat. And then thyroid levels at the same time are now dipping, which contributes to okay, slower metabolism.... you know. So, basically now, it's like actually the recipe for weight gain instead of weight loss, right? Which is why like, you know, there are naturopathic doctors whoo.. you know.. they actually report cases were their patients have come in saying, "I dont know whats going on, I've been on the Ketogenic Diet for like 10 weeks, and I'm actually gaining weight  instead of losing weight", and that could very much be the case, because of everything that's going on hormonally, right?  So one thing I would really suggest, is like if you are doing a Ketogenic Diet, you love it. Just take care of your nutrition, like micronutrients, like making sure that you get enough, you know, Vitamins in your diet, Vitamin B complex is very very important in your diet, Vitamin B12, 

 

As thus, the production of Vitamin K,, but the thing is, Vitamin K can naturally occur, in your body and through digestion sounds, if your digestion is really good,  I mean you can start to improve that, as much as possible right?

 

Yeah, yeah absolutely,

Basically if you are doing a Ketogenic diet make sure you are getting your macronutrients, also make sure you are..... I know fibers is considered a  carbohydrate but that's why like getting lots of broccoli in because you know, broccoli is rich in Fiber, avocados are amazing because they are really really rich in you know potassium, and they are really rich in soluble fiber, so basically theres two types of fiber, there's soluble fiber and then there's insoluble fiber. Insoluble Fiber they both have their pro's and con's but basically, insoluble fiber, it helps with appetite control, because it keeps you feeling fuller, for longer,  however soluble fiber goes directly in and it's almost like it cleanses everything, and your liver loves soluble fiber because it's so easy to digest, and avocados are really rich in that, so coming back to the Ketogenic Diet, a lot of people are like Oh my Gosh, like I'm going to eat Bacon, all day, everyday.

You're in a nutritional deficit, and your body is just going W.T.F like .. you know.. what's going on? I'm not getting any nutrients, I'm not getting any fiber, you know the hormones start to go out of whack, and you're like oh yeah no, you know, I'm going to make, Pizzas out of you know, Paleo Flour, and you know drizzle them with Butter, and cheese...

Oh my gosh, yeah.

 

And just take care of your nutrition, nutritional needs like you know making sure that you're getting a really good probiotic, making sure that you are taking care of your Vitamins, taking a suppl... an adaptogenic herb  like ashwagandha or any other adaptogenic herbs like  medicinal mushrooms, 

 

These things are there to help because when you do drop the ball, because it happens, it happens to the best of us, we'll say it right here, we're not perfect.

And even now, on occasions like for our kids, we have our kids birthday parties, where you now.. pizza will get ordered or a birthday cake will show up, and the thing is that when you hold this level of foundation of what we're recommending, now you've got these sort of way to sort of reverse much quicker, the feelings that you are going to feel are not as adverse as they were, your recovery time is going to improve massively and  your digestive tract is gonna hold up and you're going to see it in your stool, you know, at the end of the day,    like you are going to see the results when it comes to your stool ,  and the funny thing is you know,  if you don't mind me touching upon this cause I know its a sensitive subject and a lot of people dont wanna talk about   , and you know the stool does matter, is a very, is a very important, part in all of this, but you know there's also a difference between diarrhea and a digestive purge, you know? and essentially the thing is that when you are able to get things out of your system,  it's a way different experience. It's a more relieving experience, when as opposed to .. with you know..  diarrhea, you feel something is not right, you know? So I think it's important to figure out I think what's happening with your body, be in tune with your body  and just understand whats going on, and these cleanses are really important,  you know, sweat is one way but a real good way of just you know get to the root of it, is a real digestive purge. 

 

Yeah, yeah and I love how you also mentioned,  emotions, because there's a.... you know just like a second neuroimmunology, there's a huge relationship between our thoughts...... and our feelings, and what's going on in terms of weight loss, like for example if you feel guilty, like lets just say you have an occasional bullet, it's so important to forgive yourself, because otherwise like, you know, you're actually storing that as guilt, and it's actually going to now, convert into you know.. more fat or more weight, cause there is something called emotional weight, and it's very real, emotional weight is literally basically like,  your... you know it can convert into physical weight as well, and so it's very important,....

 

And that..... is involved with that form of guilt right?

 

Oh, absolutely and like if you study the different chakras, the emotions of guilt, always get stored in your Gut, your Sacral Chakra, right? That's why like... it can lead to like... belly fat, and stuff like that.

 

And... it's by the way, it's fairly common in women a lot more so, right?

 

Yeah, yeah absolutely, Specially like you know,  one of the most common,  concerns I hear from, a lot of women especially mothers, here's the interesting thing,   it's that oh you know, like I lose weight everywhere, except on my belly, or you know my obliques, and it's like yeah because, after becoming a mother, you start to experience more guilt, it's like oh my gosh, I didn't spend half an hour putting my baby to bed when I usually spend half an hour, today I only spent 25 minutes, no, no, no guilt, you know?   It's like, after becoming mothers,     women are constantly feeling guilty about anything 

 

The irony is your kid is probably now paying attention to that instead, its ironic because the quality time is what makes the difference, not the...

 

Exactly, yeah, you know, I'm sorry to go off topic a little bit but I think this is such an important point, because what is happening is that now, because your... in your world you've created this definition this... you know Synaptic connection... between Love & Guilt, and now Love equals Guilt, Guilt equals Love and you're not even recognizing that that's the emotion that you've labeled as love and now you're transferring that meaning to your child too..

 

And throughout the love, your child is  learning a lack of love instead of real pure love, right?

 

Exactly, so they're learning that.. oh! Guilt equals Love,   when mommy feels guilty it means that she loves me.

 

When I feel guilty it means I love mommy. And now whenever I love someone,  I'm gonna feel guilty all the time because Guilt equals Love and Love equals Guilt. And it's shocking to me how, like... what we believe and teach,  as love is actually some other emotion.

 

Yeah, because you are not putting yourself first. Right?

 

And by not putting yourself first... and this goes for dads too, not just moms, it goes for dads, because when you feel you put yourself,    your coming from a place where you're just  not feeling like....  as if you were evaluating yourself, and your kids going to recognize that,   and smell right that off you.  Immediately, and the funny thing is that, that's going to be the backbone of the relationship and now both the parent and the child,   don't really know what's going on.

 

Yeah absolutely,        

 

That's what's so interesting... so it's okay to get.... you know... help to .. just so you can recalibrate and allow yourself to reach balance. 

 

Yeah, I mean like you know, this is actually a quote that I, you know I learned from my Doulas and midwives is like it takes a whole village to raise a baby you know  and it's so true  and we're just ,... our generation,   specially for some reason,    women are so... like I wanna be a mother all by myself, I will not accept help from anyone. You know, otherwise I won't be a good mother and in our generation especially    I don't know why there's more self imposed pressure on  mothers than ever before,     and it really surprises me, especially after I became a mother  I was like oh my gosh, so a mother is a bad mother if she doesn't do this, or a mother is bad mother if she does do this,   or if she doesn't like... 

 

They feel judged...

 

Oh my God

 

It's the basis of the beginning of anything.

 

I was so surprised because, after becoming a mother I feel like there's more judgement from other mothers than women who are not mothers, and it's sad, because it's like, thats .... every mother is so unique, so different,  just like every human being  is so unique,  and so different,  there's different mothering styles and you have to appreciate every single mother ...

 

Yeah, bullsh*t aside being a mother is being a goddess too!

 

YEAH, absolutely! It absolutely is.  And you know, there's different goddesses, so there is …. different mothers you appreciate all of them. cause all of them have the same intention to do the best for their children,   that they possibly can.

 

And we have to change the meaning. We have to, we have to shift the meaning, because you know, there is a backbone here you know and it's really important because,   you know , I mean there's obviously like even on the subject of weight loss,  there's a lot of mothers we ... we know this, because we know our audience,  we know, you know our customers, how many mothers... are, are turning to us... you know for help, its crazy you know,  it's important to lay down the truth, because you know its a very real unspoken truth I'd say.

 

Yeah, absolutely, 100, 100% and that's why like you know, you're doing stuff out of guilt like things like even, getting a proper meal and you're like oh my gosh I can't sit there and actually enjoy my meal, while my child is waiting for me and now you're eating in a state of stress,  and you're like.... while you're eating your cortisol levels are sky high ....

-  Exactly, your body is not even digesting the food properly,  or even the simple workout, like a 45 minute workout, you feel as if...  like …. you're the worst mother in the world,  to now actually choose exercise? .... Over spending time with your child?    "Oh my god, that's terrible"  . And now you're feeling all of these guilt,  well guess what, do you think that your body's going to like ... feel loved in those moments?  You think your body is going to be able to regenerate and repair and take care of itself, when you are experiencing all of these self imposed Guilt, absolutely not. You might as well not even do the work or you know eat, because....

 

This is also ancestral guilt, it's like you know, things get passed down generations, after generation,   after generation. If you decide to go and turn the tide, go against what you know, your parents, your grandparents and really just choose you,  and really decide what works best for you,  what's gonna start to happen is you're gonna start to heal relationships,  that came before you and that are passed ... these kinds of things... literally ... you know... it's interesting in not just shamatic traditions, but also indigenous tribes, they believe that when you heal, you know such things you're healing 7 generations before you and 7 generations after ... that's the impact of what you are doing, so if that doesn't motivate you because you've been too busy putting other people first, at least let that motivate you!. 

 

Yeah, because you're actually healing your children and their children  and their children and their children. So yeah, it's really you know,  It's truly amazing that, you know we just have after like becoming mothers, we experience all of this you know, lack of self worth,  and lack of self love,   and for me what really changed everything was, you know, listening to this beautiful meditation, that Dr Jody Spencer created and its designed from others, it's called  Embracing the Goddess Within and just like 30 days of that,   literally completed shifted me.   Because it actually talks about like it's basically all of these beautiful words about like feeling and you know, opening your heart, and allowing yourself to feel that self love, allowing yourself to feel that self worth?  Allowing yourself to like you know, experience all of these blissful states of being a goddess and mystic and a saint and    you know, really embracing your powers as a woman.

You know, we gotta get it.

 

Yeah I know, so that really shifted everything for me,  and I feel like you know that's why there's this huge connection,   between your thoughts, your emotions,  and your results, so basically like,  coming back to that, one of the tools,  that is absolutely amazing to start recondition that is hypnosis, so basically like what they found in this study of hypnotherapy... like I believe there was a substantial number of smokers, who received...  one group received only counseling, and the other group went through hypnosis and counseling and what they realized was that the group who received both counseling and hypnosis,    there was a much higher % of people who stopped smoking in backward compared to the other group 

 

.... Another group of people that were studied, who were using street drugs  when.. I believe they did 10 group hypnosis sections a week and at the end of 10 weeks  all of them quit the street drugs and the same happened with weight loss, what they did was... there was this one group that,  they did just weight loss counseling and there was another group who did weight loss counseling and hypnotherapy and by the end of that study that group,  who had the hypnotherapy actually,  continued to lose much more weight than, the other group,   you know like I'm a believer in Hypnotherapy as well because, like I did that for my birthing experiences with hypnobirthing and it works beautifully, and no matter what diet, you go on or what kind of exercise regimen you adopt, all that matters is where your beliefs lie, like what do you believe in, do you believe in your health, or do you believe in the opposite of your health, do you believe in your body being this beautiful like instrument that knows all of the answers or do you believe that you know, what, no you're in a state of fear and you feel like your body can't even you know.. have normal defenses and self regulating mechanisms,
